All Natural and Technological processes proceed in such a way
The availability of the remaining energy decreases
In all energy exchanges if no energy enters or leaves an isolated system
The entropy of that system increases
Energy continuously flows from being being concentrated to becoming dispersed, spread out, wasted, useless
New energy cannot be created and high grade energy being destroyed
An economy based on endless growth is

The fundamental laws of thermodynamics will place fixed limits on technological innovation and human advancements
In an isolated system, the entropy can only increase
A species set on endless growth is

The song relates to the album title the "2nd law" which refers to the second newtonian law of thermodynamics. As explained by the album trailer the energy in a closed system will eventually be dispersed throughout the system as unusable energy. This even dispersal of energy will result in the eventual breakdown of all energy systems and matter in the universe (because matter and energy are interchangeable states). The song applies this law to the accumulation of human civilisation and development. The song emphasises the fragile state of uneven distribution of wealth and resource and its inevitable dispersion as social unrest (analogous to chaos) increases.
