Meg & Dia – How Much? lyrics
Sleep on now
I heard that a knee makes a good pillow
When your down
And do you like it
When someone tickles your arm?
Curl your locks of hair round and round

You're so tired
Let me straighten out your shirt
As your chest rises up and down

I don't get it either
But someday we'll learn
How the earth spins round and round

You need to fall
That's what people always say

You don't know anything at all
You haven't felt the pain

When should I crawl.
When should I take the final blow.
When is it bad enough.
To earn the right to show.

How hard should I fall
Before it's my turn to be heard.
How much pain should I show on my face
Before you listen to a word.
How bad should I hurt?
How much is enough?

You just jerked.
I hope you're dreaming.
But isn't drowning all we've earned?
I won't close my eyes till you lay still, and I won't cry.
I've been through nothing.
I haven't witnessed a full stab.
I need to experience something before I get laughed at.

You need to fall.
That's what people always say

You don't know anything at all
You haven't felt the pain

When should I crawl.
When should I take the final blow.
When is it bad enough.
To earn the right to show.

How hard should I fall
Before it's my turn to be heard.
How much pain should I show on my face
Before you listen to a word.

When should I crawl.
When should I take the final blow.
When is it bad enough.
To earn the right to show.

How bad should I hurt?
How much is enough?

'How Much' is about a person who's experiencing love in a young age, just like teenagers. Though it felt so deep for her, it's shallow for the more experienced ones.

"You need to fall. That's what people always say. You don't know anything at all. You haven't felt the pain."

These lines implied being underestimated by these people. She knows it quite well because of this line too, "I've been through nothing. I haven't witnessed a full stab."

But she wanted to be of use to the one she loves. She wanted to feel more, to understand more of what love is in order to be heard, to tell her side. Because in reality, kids will be kids. Teens will be teens. Adults will be adults.

Adults look down on teens and teens look down on kids. All-through out, this song is an unheard scream by teenagers who is sick of this set-up.
