The speaker is helping the person back into the "real world", whatever that may be and is letting them know that he/she is there for them. The speaker also lets it be known that he/she is not mad at the person, but just trying to help the person out.

Maybe he feels like "Mr. Pitiful" for trying to hold on to some type of relationship. And the ex is not fessing up to her wrongness within that relationship, and is sitting high and mighty.
