Mark Schultz – He's My Son lyrics
I'm down on my knees again tonight,
I'm hoppin' this prayer will turn out right.
See, there is a boy that needs Your help.
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired,
I'm sure You can understand.
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand,
And she tries
Not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes.

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place some how.
See, he's not just anyone, he's my son.

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep,
I dream of the boy he'd like to be.
I try to be strong and see him through,
But God, who he needs right now is You.
Let him grow old,
Live life without this fear.
What would I be
Living without him here?
He's so tired,
And he's scared
Let him know that You're there.

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place some how.
See, he's not just anyone, he's my son.

Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow.
See, he's not just anyone.

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him,
He's my son.

My son was born perfect in my eyes and Gods but required multiple surgery to correct his birth defects. There was many times I felt this way and knew my husband and I couldn't handle this on our own. Then I was reminded of how Mary must have felt raising her son Jesus knowing what was in store for him. Her love was so great and yet she gave it over to his father which is God our father who is great enough to handle any burden. We just have to give it over to him. Averys Mom.

When my son was just a little boy some neighborhood kids set his leg on fire and was laughing about it. When we came back from the hospital he was in so much pain. I wanted to cry but I was so full of anger that I couldn't. Well that night the radio was on and they played that song, I heard it for the first time. That's exactly how I felt. I cried so much when I heard that song. I dedicated to my son. Because he's just not anyone, he's my song. That song is one of my favorites and I love it. Thank you and god bless.

I found out at 20 weeks gestation that my son had an incurable and unsurvivable genetic disorder. He was born a week later and past. This song resinates in my heart & brings me to tears each time I hear it. How helpless we are sometimes as mothers - pleading for our children. All I can hold fast to is that The Lord has a purpose for my Josiah's short life. And I will "praise him in this storm."
