This place is a hole, and I don't want to go.
I wish we could stay here forever alone.
This time that we waste, but I still love your taste.
Don't let him take my place, don't just sit there.
Sometimes I wish you would leave me.
Whoa, I'm not sick of you yet, is that as good as it gets,
I'll just hide it, or I could slip into you,
It's so easy to come back into you.

I stared for awhile, and waited for words,
Seen but not heard and struggled to try.
My tongue's turning black, but I'll take you back.
You're still the best more or less, I guess.
I guess.

Don't you leave me,
Whoa I'm not sick of you yet,
Is that as good as it gets,
I'll just hide, or I could slip into you,
It's so easy to come back into you.

It hurts me to say that it hurts me to stay.
And it might be alright if you go.
It hurts me to say that I want you to stay,
But it might be alright if you go.

So leave me, whoa I'm not sick of you yet,
Is that as good as it gets.
I'll just hide it, or I could slip into you,
It's so easy to come back into you.
Sometimes I think that the bitter in you,
And the quitter in me,
Is the bitter in you and the quitter in me.
The bitter in you, and the quitter in me,
Is the bitter in you and the quitter in me.
The bitter in you, and the quitter in me,
Is the better in you and the quitter in me,
Is bigger than the both of us.

I cry to this song. Such a powerful meaning. When Josh was 16, he got addicted to heroin and had to go to rehab. One of the things they did in rehab was he had to write a letter to the drug of your choice and he wrote it to heroin and then later turned it into Lover Dearest.

The meaning of loverdearest to me is someones bad commitment to something thats maskingly killing you, its the strength to overcome whatever is being thrown at you, to be strong to have hope, determination and most of all, love.

This song is about Josh Ramsay's battle with his haroine addiction.
On his road to recovery, he was told to write a love letter to his addiction, and he decided to put it into song. I think he did a really beautiful job with it. I tear up a little every time I hear it.

This song is about josh ramsay's heroin addiction. In rehab, he was assigned to write a love letter to his addiction and later turned it into an amazing and beautiful song.
Here is the meaning for me (in terms of being in love with/addicted to a person rather than drug)
This love for his partner is almost an addiction. He can't get out of this "hole" of love her. He wishes he could stay there with her, forever, without the pressure of the world around him. They waste time going back and forth but he still loves having her around, and he doesn't want someone to take his place in the relationship. Then again, he sometimes wishes she'll leave him so he can move on with his life. But no, he's not ready, he still wants her. The lyric "my tongue's turning black but i"ll take you back" suggests that he knows she's bad for him, that she's destroying him but he doesn't care- he'd easily and happily fall back into love with her.
He says that it hurts him to admit that it hurts him for her to stay but it may be alright if she leaves him
I think that "the bitter in you and the quitter in me is bigger than the both of us" means that the bad in her and the part of him ready to leave her may just be enough to make him walk away and start over.
