Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Madman drummers bummers,
Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder,
Feelin' kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin',
Sneezin' and wheezin,
The calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes
She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong, play the song with the funky break"
And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside
And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride
Asked me if I needed a ride
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tired
She's gonna make it through the night
She's gonna make it through the night
------ guitar solo ------
But mama, that's where the fun is
But mama, that's where the fun is
Mama always told me not to look into the eye's of the sun
But mama, that's where the fun is [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/manfred_mann/blinded_by_the_light.html ]
Some brimstone baritone anticyclone rolling stone preacher from the east
Says, "Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in it's funny bone, that's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown chaperone was standin' in the corner, watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messin' with his frozen zone, reminding him of romance
The calliope crashed to the ground
But she was...
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
{the following two sections are sung simultaneously}
1)
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
Revved up like a deuce,
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

I think it made more since before i never the actual words. This song, while good to listen to, is indeed a tribute to the lsd-era. Right up there with clocks

Sounds like it might be about abusing drugs & possibly trading sex for drugs. (i'll turn you on sonny to something strong), & she's reved up (on drugs) & a "runner" ( drug runner) & she's down but never got tired (maybe on "speed"), & may be a drug reference to in the "crashing to the ground" as well. Always a favorite of mine. Very clever arrangement/use of words.

I always knew it was revved up like a deuce, but i thought the next line was "you know the rotor in the night". Lol! You know, deuce, car, rotor? 32 ford coupe specifically btw, according to my best friend.

Fyi... A deuce is a camaro. Two doors, hence a deuce. :-)

I always thought it was - wrapped up like a dooshian of the runner in the night
The lyricist was resorting to referential treatment and seems to be having a ball. Note the wide array of references being used like mozart, calliope, weather chart, etc. Also he used a multiple of words rhyming with one in one of the stanzas. Now, subject matter will matter less than the kaleidoscopic method used. Like roger ebert said " it's not what it's about, it's how it's about it. It goes without saying that michael stipe will go work in similar fashion.
