Mallary Hope – Love Lives On lyrics

I reached for you this morning
Woke up with empty arms
Once again it's sinking in
How far away you are
I still pour two cups of coffee
And tell you all about my dreams
This kitchen's way too quiet
You should still be here with me

And even though I cry like crazy
Even though it hurts so bad
I'm thankful for the time God gave me
Even though he couldn't make it last
I'm learning how to live without you
Even though I don't want to
And even with you gone love lives on

I still call your mom on sundays
It's good to hear her voice
She always tells me that same story
About her stubborn little boy
And I kept your favorite t-shirt
You know the one I used to hate
Ain't it funny how it's the one thing now
I just can't throw away

And even though I cry like crazy
Even though it hurts so bad
I'm thankful for the time God gave me
Even though he couldn't make it last
I'm learning how to live without you
Even though I don't want to
And even with you gone love lives on

She comes with me on your birthday
Little flowers in her hand
She's always known that somethings missing
But to young to understand
And someday she's going to ask me
What kind of man you were
I'll tell her all the ways I loved you
And all the you I see in her

And even though I cry like crazy
Even though it hurts so bad
I'm thankful for what god gave me
And she's the perfect way to make it last
I'm learning how to live without you
Baby I don't want you to
But even with you gone
Love lives on

Baby love lives on
Love lives on
Oh
Yeah

I reached for you this morning
Woke up with empty arms

It's actually written for her sister who's husband was in the military and was KIA while deployed. It wasn't about anyone else. The little girl is her sister's daughter not hers. Read the meaning to the song and you'll understand it. I love this song and cried when I first heard it knowing I lost my first love to murder it was the hardest thing for me to deal with but I know that love does live on and he would want me to move on and be happy and celebrate his life instead of being sad and crying all the time. I've accepted his death it was hard to accept it at first but 7 years later I've finally learned to accept it. He's in a better place and I'm happy he's not suffering. I'm happy he's not in pain. I'm happy he's looking down on me. Think about death like this. They're not gone they're still with you. It might not be the way you want it to be but they are still with you in spirit. I can talk to him without crying. I know he's happy about that I celebrate his life instead of mourning his life.

This is a song about losing the father of your child. Although I don't have any children, I did lose my husband, a marine cpl in afghanistan when I was 24 (3 years ago). I found this song on my sister's computer and it made me cry the first time I heard it by the first time I heard the chorus. The first verse could sound like a deployment (being gone and the distance), but after hearing the rest it hit me too hard. I always wonder when artists write songs like this if they realize who exactly is going to affect and that there are so many war widows from the past ten years in the usa.

I think that it is a mom saying her husband died and that she still calls her mother-in-law and talks to her. And they have a daughter and she is saying of how one day her daughter is going to ask about her dad and she is going to have to tell her. And she is going to tell her that even though he is gone his love still lives on. Very sweet. I almost cried.

Its about her husband passing. And after he passed away she's saying love lives on. And her child is a perfect way to make it last. Its not about the military maybe her husband dying in the military, but her husband passed away, "She comes with with me on your birthday/little flowers in her hand."Hints for the video it has her in the cementary with her mom. And then she grows up. At first I thought it was her father. But its about her husband passing. Love Lives On.

This does not mean that you will lose your love. It's in reference to loving your child which is a product of your love with your mate, because you still love them even though they are gone. Does not mean they are dead. This song is geared towards the military. Meaning loving your spouse even when they are away overseas and having a child together just in case something might happen to them while away, you will always have that reminder of them of your love together (the child).
