Take a bow, the night is over
This masquerade is getting older
Light are low, the curtains down
There's no one here
[there's no one here, there's no one in the crowd]
Say your lines but do you feel them
Do you mean what you say when there's no one around [no one around]
Watching you, watching me, one lonely star
[one lonely star you don't know who you are]

Chorus:

Ive always been in love with you [always with you]
I guess youve always known it's true [you know it's true]
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye

Make them laugh, it comes so easy
When you get to the part
Where you're breaking my heart [breaking my heart]
Hide behind your smile, all the world loves a clown
[just make em smile the whole world loves a clown]
Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played [role that you played]
No more masquerade, you're one lonely star
[one lonely star and you don't know who you are]

(chorus, repeat)

Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye

All the world is a stage [world is a stage]
And everyone has their part [has their part]
But how was I to know which way the storyd go
How was I to know you'd break
[youd break, you'd break, you'd break]
Youd break my heart

Ive always been in love with you
[Ive always been in love with you]
Guess youve always known
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say good-bye

(chorus)

Say good-bye [bye bye], say good-bye
Say good-bye

Women can leave good men, too. After it is too late for reconciliation, these women recognize that they gave up the one they should have married. I know, it happened to me while i was in grad school. As for my ex, i know for a fact that she is struggling with life. The moral of this true story is not new, the grass is not greener on the other side, it only appears to be.

When a relationship is over, when one party takes advantage of the other until finally she realises it will never change.

I can relate. In my case it was my ex-wife taking my love for granted. I loved her with all of my heart and soul- she knew it... But in time, she started seeing other men behind my back. It was very painful to let go, but time and time again- after being given multiple chances, she would return back to her unfaithfulness. I've now been divorced and unmarried for almost 16 years. She eventually settled down somewhat and remarried. After all these years, i still feel a void in my life... An emptiness that perhaps only she could fulfill. I did keep and raise our three kids on my own... They are all grown up now. This song reminds me of that time and about the only real love i've ever had... Even though i've dated over 50 beautiful women afterwards, she was the only one i've ever loved...

A woman who has left a narcissistic man.. And her power to heal. Her now understanding that the relationship was a "farce". She was his punching bag, his puppet. She strongly expresses to him how she feels, but forgives him for how he treated her and is moving on..

In take a bow, i can hear the absolute, unconscionable and beautiful sadness in madonna's voice. Sean penn and guy ritchie were and still are two men madonna loved dearly but her love for them was at best unrequited and tragic, madonna has a beautiful heart that gets broken very easily because of her sadness-her sadness is one of her better qualities. All three of them-madonna, sean and guy deserve awards for the roles they've played-madonna, whether we realize it or not-has been touched by the lives of these cinematic rebels and for that, she deserves to take a bow. Her music has touched my heart and soul because of her sad, lovely and beautiful voice. May madonna continue to take a bow-her pride may be shaken but it's in the name of love.
