I've lied to you
The same way that I always do
This is the last smile
That I'll fake for the sake of being with you
(Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown
Eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end
You'll soon find we're out of time left
To watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see you're testing me pushes me away
[x2]
I've tried like you
To do everything you wanted too
This is the last time
I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/linkin_park/pushing_me_away.html ]
(Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown
Eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end
You'll soon find we're out of time left
To watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
[x2]
(We're all out of time
This is how we find how it all unwinds)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(We're all out of time
This is how we find how it all unwinds)
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away

I love these linkin park songs where there's a good mix of singing, rapping, and non-ear-bleeding screamo (in this case it just sounds like his voice is raspy; it sounds good, but sometimes chester's screaming hurts to listen to), and their guitar melodies are nice and sort of ambient, the way they do it is like their signature for songs.
I agree with you kairikate52. I believe that it is kind of a fusion of the two, because i can relate. His world is collapsing underneath him and he does not want her to have to face that. However, if that is the case, then the point of view changes from the chorus to the verses. Excellent song. I disagree with raichu however, because there were some equally good songs on meteora and one on minutes to midnight. I do believe that hybrid theory was their best, but not their only good one.
I love thiz song .!!! Sumtimez i feel like im pushing that speacial person away self-consciously. Itz hard and i can relate to thiz song itz just amazing how a song can write out ur feelingz or ur life
I think this song can be taken in many ways. It's different for everyone. I believe it is meant to be about a boy and how he is having difficulty finding the light in his realationship with a girl. Or, it could be about how one's world is falling apart in tough times and everyone will take the hit eventually. Thus, he himself will break away from sanity and his loved ones.
The album "hybrid theory" is the best that linkin park has... After this album... They really went down below... And now... Where are they? I appreciate all the songs in this album because the tunes are catchy, and the meaning of their songs are deep and undeniably true... Unfortunately they failed to keep up to the height of their first album... Partly it's like a loss in the growing music industry... Because we can't deny the fact that they were one of the best band i guess more than six years ago...
It's more then just about immortality though, so much more. It's about not selling yourself short in the little time we have in this life. It's about not trying to believe that something is the best for you when in your heart you know it's not. Like the lines "the sacrifice is never knowing" why, for however long it may be (years, months weeks whatever) do we allow ourselves to be pushed around, push aside, forced to change who we really are all in the name of love until the day we finally wake up and see just how wrong it is. It's about not settling for something that you know isn't worth it, it's about being yourself and living life to the fullest in how ever long you have to live it. Which clearly in the song is not happening until that moment, this song is like a wake up call, it's like running into that brick wall after speeding and losing control. It jolts you and makes you see how you are who you are, pretending, lying, faking isn't going to change that and being tested all the time just makes it that much harder. That isn't real love, life gives us enough tests and trials without someone trying to change you at every other turn. This song is about walking away with your head held high.
This is the last song on the first cd entitled, "hybrid theory. " it talks about our own immortality. I mean check out the line, "everything has to end, you'll soon find were out of time left to watch it all unwind. " this is a sick and awesome line. People want to stick around to see what will occur with the world but everything including our lives must end. You also have the line saying the ppl who never frown eventually break down. Very true. Everyone's life will have incredibly depressing moments where they will want to call it quits or break down. Just an all around cool song.
