Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today.
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
Have a voice in the back of my head
Like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall
(And watches everything)
So I know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
I know I've got a face in me
Points out all my mistakes to me
You've got a face on the inside too
Your paranoia's probably worse
I don't know what set me off first
But I know what I can't stand
Everybody acts like the fact of the matter is
I can't add up to what you can but [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/linkin_park/papercut.html ]
Everybody has a face that they hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time they lie
A face that laughs every time they fall
(And watches everything)
So you know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is watching you too
Right inside your skin
[X2]
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath the skin [x3]
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun
I feel the light betray me
The sun
I feel the light betray me
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin.

Also, i think the song is called papercut because papercuts are painful and also an irritation and this song could also be about people judging and irritating you for fun. It would explain 'the face'.
I used to be bullied as a kid and before i knew the lyrics this is exactly what i felt- somtimes you feel paraniod and very upset because you feel that the people are always there watching you and picking out your faults and i will remember that feeling forever.

Papercut reminds me of someone who suddenly has all this parania. They suddenly over the years have finally managed to realise that society is tellingthem all the time that they're wrong and that every time they try to fall asleep these memeries come back- the face is all their problems and deep, dark, horror from the past or just this evil building up that seems to have a personality.
He also compares himself to others to 'i know you've got a face too' you have problems too. He's trying to make himself feel normal by doing this- and he's right- everybody has a face. We just have to remember- the sun never betrays you because the moon is always there :)
I like this song it is good!! The vid is werid but the song is sssiiiccc cckkk!!! Mike can rap really good and chaz well he is just good at singing and the rest they rock!!!
Sorry split personality wanna be. Actual cases of split personality disorder have more than 12 personalities and it is nearly impossible to know about the others. You're just emo if you wanna fake a serious mental disorder.
Reminds me of my problems with multiple personalities. Multiple minds. I have a flippin split personality! Three flippin ways! The "face inside" is the other personalities. And yes they do watch everything! Back off you two!
I feel that the song is about self-judgement. We all have that voice in our head that talks to us and judges our actions. Sometimes that voice is so powerful that it can make us feel like we are being watched. We constantly are looking for approval from everyone else, yet we don't necessarily approve of ourselves in the process. This song is about that little voices that judges all our actions, as well as others..
