i like ur take metalheadscot, good sir. but i think that what it means to the band and what it means to the listener can be and most often are 2 very different things. thats whats so great about music, the artist creates it but we all own what it means to us.

this is not about being alone in hard times. in case you haven't noticed lamb of god is not a feel good cheery band. People that listen to them(including me) have had more troubles than normal in their lives and turn to metal. This song is an invitation to let all the badasses and rejects know that they aren't alone and only metal RULES

The Narrator is telling you to pray for the plague of the earth to be cleansed by floods, whether or not via war (to remove it of evil do-ers).
We so easily welcome darkness into our lives and as a result are consumed and become a bearer of the plague.
The purpose of the life we lead becomes lost and forgotten as we are consumed by the plague, that which forces upon the world an evil nature, possessing us to do things we couldn't normally do.
Pray for something in the void of nothingness (this existance).
A person who is trapped in hell is being offered a safe path through it by the narrator.
The people who believe in the words of liars are doomed, possibly a political referance because it is 'the end of an age'.

Sorry but no...if it ment that then he wouldn't have said hope dies in the hands of the believers, plus lamb of god isn't known for happy cheer up songs, this song is more demonic, I think he's the evil entity telling others to come with him to hell, or something along those lines
