We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don't please
Now we're looking over our new domicile
If we like we stay for maybe quite a while

Do you see that a thing swimming round and round
Maybe we can reaching in and make it drown
If we sneaking up upon it carefully
There will be head for you a tail for me

Do you hear what I hear a baby cry
Where we finding baby there's milk near by
If we look in baby buggy there could be
Plenty milk for you and also some for me

Seriously? I teach literature and i still find most of what you are saying to be a complete joke. You can make anything fit any context if you are imaginative enough. They embody the stereotypical mischievous cat. Nothing more. Cute, fun song.

And just in defense of siamese cats -- i love them. You've never lived until you have been 'dissed by a siamese cat. Nothing sneaky about them -- they are upfront and in your face and they will communicate. They are very loyal, very protective and very loving cats. I miss you kiki (lived 20 years) and i miss you to ku-chi ming. You were the best.

It is definitely a reference to conjoined twins. Also, i must type fifty characters so that is exactly what i am doing. Hello reader, why are you looking up the meaning to this song? It is about cats who are sneaky and kind of creepy.

"we are siamese if you please," is a very important song of this generation. In just three stanzas it communicates deep meaning and a very hard-hitting message.

It is clear that by the references to the fish - "swimming round and round," the siamese are envious of a simple, calm existence - they envy the fish and wish to take that simplicity from the fish. From this they will also gain personally, "head for you and tail for me. " are the siamese cats not really wishing that they had a fish head and tail?

In the final stanza, references are made to a young baby and cravings for milk. This could indicate that the siamese cats miss fertility - perhaps they have been neutered by their owners. Babies represent a fresh, pure start, something else the siamese cats yearn for. "plenty of milk for you and also some for me," takes them back to the days of being kittens - before their personalities became unkind.

It is clear from the lyrics that the siamese cats regret aspects of their lifestyle and most of all regret that they are siamese if you please, and also siamese if you don't please.
