I like to dance all night, summons the day
But that's how I play, yeah that's how I play
I said who are you? Don't matter who you are
So we dance all night and dance all day
I say, I say [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/k/kings_of_leon/manhattan.html ]
We're gonna fuel the fire, gonna stoke it up
We're gonna sip this wine and pass the cup
Who needs avenues, who needs reservoirs
Gonna show this town how to kiss these stars
I say, I say
We're gonna hunt to kill, gonna skin the hide
A yelp and scream and away I ride
And every drop that spills on every plot of ground
It's all for you for what you found
I say, I say
I say, I say
It's gonna take your head
And gonna drive you home
It's gonna keep on, keep on, keep on
And then forever roam
Their lyrics are very deep n makes one think.. Which is ingenious n original for a band to do.. Tho sometimes it can make hard to figure out what the "meaning of the song" is or the point they are trying to make.. Their older songs that got highly criticized here in the usa (why they headed overseas as they found success in the uk n ireland especially, early on.. Since they've been a band since 1999, with their 1st album out in 2003.. Their older songs have more depth; as they do have 3 prior albums to 'only by the night' .. Tho they did change their style to conform to what is popular, if you listen to the prior albums, you can hear this.. Just a fyi)
Yet it's great to see them finally taking off in the usa w/the success of "sex on fire" fueling them on after it topped the charts 1st in europe, then here in the usa w/a grammy win!! Then w/the success of the followup "use somebody". Congrats kol!! "manhattan" is one of my fav songs of their recent album, amid the already popular
favs of many.
