Lift me up on my honour
Take me over this spell
Get this weight off my shoulders
I've carried it well
Loose these shackles of pressure
Shake me out of these chains
Lead me not to temptation

Hold my hand harder
Ease my mind
Roll down the smoke screen
And open the sky

Let me fly
Man I need a release from
This troublesome mind
Fix my feet when they’re stumbling
And well you know it hurts sometimes
You know it's gonna bleed sometimes

Dig me out from this thorn tree
Help me bury my shame
Keep my eyes from the fire
They can’t handle the flame
Grace cut out from my brothers
When most of them fell
I carry it well

Let me fly
Man I need a release from
This troublesome mind
Fix my feet when they’re stumbling
I guess you know it hurts sometimes
You know it's gonna bleed sometimes

Now hold on
I’m not looking for sweet talk
I’m looking for time
Time for tower and sleep walk
Brother, cause it hurts sometimes
You know it's gonna bleed sometimes
Hold on

You know its gonna hurt sometimes
When you call me
Hold on
Hold on
Hold on

I’m gonna climb that symphony home and make it mine
Let his resonance light my way
See, all these pessimistic sufferers tend to drag me down
So I could use it to shelter what good I’ve found

When I hear the lyrics and see him perform the song I definitely get the feeling he's talking about salvation. At one point during a performance on Youtube he even looks up as if to show who he's talking to. Knowing Brandon Flowers is a very religious man only confirms this in my mind. For example, "lead me not to temptation" sounds very similar to an excerpt from Matthew 6:13 -- "And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil." I do not think a man would be asking another man to lead him not to temptation and carry him away from sin. He then pleas for his eyes to be kept from the fire because he "can't handle the flame" I'm guessing (I don't know the guy just guessing) that as a famous, attractive & wealthy man he has been presented with many opportunities to let the "flames" (of whatever form of sin) envelop him and he's saying he can't resist the temptation and needs guidance. Or something along those lines. "Let his resonance light my way", capitalize that "His" and there you have it. he's looking to follow the path he feels God has laid before him, and in his wake protect what little "good he's found" and climb that "symphony home", making it his. Admittedly I'm not really sure what a symphony home is but I'm guessing it's something like grace or nirvana or salvation. Anyway, I love the song! Brandon always keeps us guessing with his brilliant lyrics.

I've always thought that it was the subject's brother or best friend helping him go through with what happened and get over it. A very helpful conversation between 2 people.
