Kelly Clarkson – The War Is Over lyrics
I watch the days rush by me like a river
I shouldn't wait, but I'm scared to touch the water
I let the phone ring, why won't you believe
I wait for silence, takes a lot not to answer

All I have to say is
You don't deserve me, you don't deserve me
I'm finally walking away
Cause you don't deserve me, and you're not worthy

[Chorus:]
And I won't let you pour me in
Because I know you're gonna win
(The war is over) but the war is over (The war is over)
And I won't fight you anymore
I never been so sure
(The war is over) cuz the war is over

I used to let you paint 'em pretty pictures
You got me caught up with your, you're my girl forever
So I forgive you, it felt good when you hold me
Yeah you owned me
Now you wish you had really known me

All I have to say is you don't deserve me, you don't deserve me
I'm finally walking away, cuz you only hurt me
And you're not worthy

[Chorus:]
And I won't let you pour me in

Because I know you're gonna win
(The war is over) but the war is over (The war is over)
And I won't fight you anymore
I never been so sure
(The war is over)

This is not my surrender
I'm not running for cover
I'm right here, I know you see me
But your words don't longer deceive me
In the night
When you're lonely, you remember how much you miss me
So you call, well I swear
You can try a million times, you'll get the same message

All I have to say is you don't deserve me, you don't deserve me
I'm finally walking away, cuz you only hurt me
And you're not worthy

[Chorus:]
And I won't let you pour me in
Because I know you're gonna win
(The war is over) but the war is over (The war is over)

The war is over, The war is over
The war is over
The war is over
The war is over
The war is over
The war is over

Unbelievably tempted to take some of these lyrics and make them my facebook status. Good call: it is very much how I feel. Bad call: I have yet to leave my boyfriend.
Don't let anyone trap you. You should never feel like you are walking on eggshells, should never feel like for the 'us' to be happy 'they' have to be happy. You matter too. A relationship is about two people, not one.

I think she is saying how much she has dealt with and she finally has had enough about everything the problems with him and she has finally realize this is not good enough she found strength and powerful song to walk away from this and become a better person from every lesson she realize such a inspiring song love it. The war is finally over and shes not going back to fighting something that doesn't need to be anymore. She finally "is over" through the B. S. Lies (the war). And everything and now shes happy not miserable about anymore.

This couple has been trying to make it work for what seems like forever. They like each other so much that even after every fight, they come crawling back to each other. He cares about her a lot but he just doesn't know how to show it even though he has treated her wrong in the past. She is done with putting up with all of his crap. She has given him too many chances to prove his love for her. She doesn't trust him anymore so she is moving on. He won't stop contacting her so she just finally stopped trying to make things okay again. She is done with this relationship and is putting it behind her in the past.

So many of us find we can relate our lives, our heart breaks and our tears to lyrics like these. And we keep fighting back, we want to win, we want to wish that we arn't going to be like those, like me, that post our feelings out there and how much we're hurting, but when its said and done, when the war is over, we need to stop. We'll just find ourselves hurting more than we ever wanted. But then we have to pick up, and get on. So many times, like so many I've mourned to want to go back and turn everything around. We can't. I don't think I can even except that yet, but thank god, we're not alone.

To me - I can really relate to this song, though not in a romantic sense. I've recently been let down by a best friend and since it all happened, I've been thinking over the friendship and realised that I was always the one to back down or to make things right for the sake of peace, even when I shouldn't have been the one to back down. For me, hearing this now, having recently experienced that and realising that sometimes as scary and daunting as it is to walk away from someone you've loved - sometimes it's the best thing for you to do in the end. It really sucks but you can't keep people in your life who can hurt you so much and seemingly not care that they did.
I know in the long run, it'll hurt her more than me and she'll be the one to lose out cause she's thrown away a good friend over her stubborness. It's a crappy situation but this is a beautiful song and I love even more than I did before now I can relate to it better - it's almost empowering in a way.

The lyrics to me are about a woman being in a long term relationship, that has been abusive. She had been munipulated by his words and wasn't strong enough but then she realizes she as a voice she doesn't need him that will survive and he will realize that she was the best thing he will ever have and he won't be getting her back. She gave him up and she is much better off! Love this song it was like it was written about my life actually this whole album I believe is written for women giving them strength and reason to celebrate that they are worth so much more then letting a man abuse them, and they don't have to take the bad situation they can get out and stay strong! Hats off to the writer!

The song to me is about a female realizing relationship is fully over and not giving in when the guy comes calling. She is scared to move on but know there is nothing left in this relationship & knows it is time to move on. She realizes that the guy will only hurt her if she stays.
It is about taking the stand and walking away with no regrets. The war is over to me means that the self-battle within is over of should I stay and make this work or leave and move on.
A strong song that has some meaning that I am sure will hit home for many females; myself included.

This song is about a woman who has finally got the strength to walk away from a relationship that hurt her. The 'war' is a metaphor to suggest that their relationship was diffficult and caused a lot of hurt, not physically, but through words, as she says 'your words no longer defeat me. '
No matter what the man says, whether he's saying everything she wants to hear, she just can't risk the chance of being hurt again because she's been there before. This time she no longer wants to fight for it and is accepting that the fight is over and so is their relationship.
