The cut is deep, but never deep enough for me
It doesn't hurt enough to make me forget
One moment of relief is never long enough
To keep the voices in my head
From stealing my peace
Oh, control
It's time, time to let you go
Perfection has a price
But I cannot afford to live that life
It always ends the same; a fight I never win [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/j/jj_heller/control.html ]
Oh, control
It's time, time to let you go
I'm letting go of the illusion
I'm letting go of the confusion
I can't carry it another step
I close my eyes and take a breath
I'm letting go, letting go
There were scars before my scars
Love written on the hands that hung the stars
Hope living in the blood that was spilled for me
Oh, control
It's time, time to let you go...
Control
It's time, time to let you go
I think it is about the addiction of cutting and how it steals your peace and how you have to give control to god in order to feel peace. And how before you cut jesus's blood was already shed for you so your's does not have to fall. It is about the demons that control and confuse and twist your thoughts into thinking you are not worth it. It is about letting that go and giving it to the one and only jesus christ.

Can anyone tell me what the representation of the silver heart means in the vid? I know when she takes of the veil she reveals her silver heart.. So she's not afraid anymore of what she's hiding.. I get that bit.. Just not the heart on the chest... I need educating please :-)

I am actually addicted to cutting... I went to a free concert at my church a year or two ago where she performed this song one of the first times... Control for me is a prison... It's something that i fight to keep in every aspect of my life... The sing is a major eye opener that i dont need to hold the control in my life, i can just let god take the control

I actually heard her explain this song. She had a friend who would cut herself because everything was going wrong and she couldn't control it. So she decided that if pain was going to be a part of her life then she wants to be the one who could control it. But the song also talks about being redeemed by god's love and grace, and that you should take heart for he has overcome the world, god has control so that you don't have to

We can never be perfect and our attempts only leave us empty. Condemnation steals our hope, but god has given us hope and peace to overcome our shortcomings. We just need to give him control of our lives, because he has endured everything, and more than, we will go through, and he gives us hope and strength to live this life.

God gave us free will. With that said, it is our choice whether or not to give him the control or to let our own selfish desires get in the way. So she is saying she lays everything down before him and letting him have her life and it's no longer about her but about him.

I beleive its about a girl/guy nomatter how hard they try they get nowhere that they want to go, so they end up cutting themselves to feel some control in their lives. In the end they give up their control and go with the flow, they are tired of hurting themselves tired of feeling the pain.

I'm pretty sure that these lyrics are about a girl/boy who cuts themselves. When you cut you feel in control of your emotions and i think that this song serves the purpose of saying that it is okay to lose that control. Everything will be okay.

Um no, it's about god giving us trials that give us a choice to either relinquish control to him, or to hold on to our own stubborness to our detriment.
