Jake Owen – Alone With You lyrics

I don't see you laugh
You don't call me back
But you kiss me when you're drunk
I don't know your friends
Don't know where you've been
Why are you the one I want

Don't put your lips up to my mouth and tell me you can't stay
Don't slip your hand under my shirt and tell me it's okay
Don't say it doesn't matter cause it's gonna matter to me
I can't be alone with
You've got me out on the edge every time you call
And I know it would kill me if I fall
I can't be alone with you

Pleas don't chain that door
I can't win this war
Your body's like a pill I shouldn't take

Don't put your lips up to my mouth and tell me you can't stay
Don't slip your hand under my shirt and tell me it's okay
Don't say it doesn't matter cause it's gonna matter to me
I can't be alone with
You've got me out on the edge every time you call
And I know it would kill me if I fall
I can't be alone with you

I can't be alone with you

Don't put your lips up to my mouth and tell me you can't stay
Don't slip your hand under my shirt and tell me it's okay
Don't say you're gonna love me cause you're gonna love me and leave
I can't be alone with
You've got me out on the edge every time you call
And I know it would kill me if I fall
I can't be alone with you

I don't see you laugh
You don't call me back
But you kiss me when you're drunk

This song has a totally different meaning to me; to me its about two people that can't be together maybe because they are both in seperate relationships. But they have been doing this back and forth thing for so long it becomes unbearable, & both of them are hurting but they are scared to tell each other how they really feel. Because they have a fear of getting hurt. Even though in the end they both end up hurting anyways.

He's got it bad for her. Even his friends (at he pool table) know this and think he's crazy-they don't even try to talk sense into him anymore. She comes to him when she's been drinking and her friends are done for the night. She has s** with him and keeps him hanging on but there's never going to be a relationship more than this. She'll find someone and be movin' on. He'll still be there waiting even though he really knows its never going to be more.

A man and woman, both married, but not to one another who begin to have feelings for one another. They know it's wrong, but yet they don't want to walk away and they know making one wrong move could send them over the edge. I'm sure many married couples can relate, it's nice to flirt with someone new, but you also know you can't chance being alone because all your temptations, desires may override your moral compass.

"sounds familiar. Girl sees a family friend after many years. Obvious sparks fly. Guy slow dances with girl in a hauntingly beautiful cememtary, they watch the sun come up. A couple nights later they get drunk alone roll around on a pile of pebbles she stops him at her buckle. Some nights later she attempts to exsplain that she cant (unbuckle) cause she already has feelings for him and doesn't want more unexchanged ones. A party or two later he kisses her alone on the porch... More partys more liquor more kisses. I can see it in his eyes sober, but he won't say or do anything. I'm going back to california next week and thats why i don't blame him... Honetsly it wouldn't change a thing. " this song is about "an oppurtunity that should have never been an option. "
