Annie Use Your Telescope lyrics

I love this song. I think it's about how he (the singer, Andrew McMahon) is dead. He's telling Annie that, when she needs him, use her telescope and she'll see him among the stars.
I think the last couple stanzas are what he said to her before he died, "I will make it, etc"
