Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much
I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer.
It's driven me before, and it seems to have a vague,
Haunting mass appeal.
But lately I'm beginning to find that I
Should be the one behind the wheel.

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there... I'll be there.

So, if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
Aah-ah-oo-o-o.

It's driven me before and it seems to be the way
That everyone else gets around.
But lately I'm beginning to find that when
I drive myself my light is found.

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeahhh
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there... I'll be there.

Would you choose water over wine... hold the wheel and drive?

Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there... I'll be there.
Do do do do do do do do do do do
Ohh wa oh
Do do do do do do do do do do do
Ohh wa oh

The meaning of the song is simple...it is not about a guy who is drunk, qvicky1297, however it is about taking control of your life and not making the easy choice simply because it is what is expected from you or that everyone else is drinking the "water". It is about living your dream and not settling. It is not about being reckless...it is simply trying to decide on the choices we must make in life.

He contemplates choosing the water not the wine. Water being less appealing than wine- right NOW. Following our own paths, making our own choices in an uncertain future- regardless of how others try to influence us.

This song is so special to me, because it helped me to see that I was keeping myself in a miserable marriage simply be ause of my fear of the unknown future, and because there was a certain amount of comfort in the present misery.
The song taught me to embrace an uncertain future "with open arm and open eyes". I mean, really, who's future is certain anyway?
So now I find myself with a very well paying job, with good insurance. And I'm thinking about early retirement to pursue self employment, in a vocation that I'm more passionate about. So the song is on my mind a lot.

This song seems to be about a person who is making a vital transition in his beliefs and convictions as the song moves forward.

He has started to see how the majority of people are "driven" in life. That fear propels us into actions and choices ...much more than we all want to admit. The key lyrics being:

And I can't help but ask myself how much
I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer.
It's driven me before, and it seems to have a vague,
    Haunting mass appeal.

Its driven me before and it seems to be the way
    That everyone else gets around.

....he mentions the hive and the wine ....which are both ways to comfort and convince yourself that something bigger and far better really doesn't exist outside of a fear-driven and simplistic existance where one lives in comfort and denial.

(Reminds me of a bit of Neo here and the red pill, blue pill decision....or even the pathetic future humans in Wall-E who later find true satisfaction.)

Now, he is wondering about himself, and is starting to see that when he rejects the wine and the hive and takes the wheel (instead of of letting fear have it) his light is found....he is out of the mass delusion.

Finally he moves to an amazing and unwavering statement that he will remain fearless to the very end:

    Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes.

Nothing that tomorrow could bring, nothing, will be strong enough to push hime back into the hive.

Amazing song about amazing transitions we all can make.
