Idiot Pilot – Last Chance lyrics
There has to be good in here
Have all things gold turned souvenir?
But what was that you said?
All the things we love we hate instead

Last chance as if it could hurt
Too much to be first
The first admit the lie
We are all put here on earth
But what we deserve is to be buried alive

I'm riding on a fence and happy with..
I'm counting on an indifference
But if I had to choose
Well it all looks pretty good to me

Last chance as if it could hurt
Too much to be first
The first admit the lie
We are all put here on earth
So we could be first
The first to be in the sky

Last chance as if it could hurt
Too much to be first
The first admit the lie
We are all put here on earth
So we could be first
The first to float up

It could be just me, but I find a lot of christian references in this groups music, especially. Sparkplug, and arguably in some of their other works as well. Last chance always reminds me of forgiveness, and of making mistakes and knowing that we can rise above them. While at first we know "what we deserve, is to be buried alive" for our sins and wrongs, "we are all put here on earth, so we could be first, the first to be in the sky. " I think sky references heaven. As long as we are "the first to admit the lie" in what we do; our wrongs and mistakes and sins, we will be the first to be in heaven. This is all despite the fact that society is slowly turning everything corporate and "souvenir", degrading that which once was considered as valuable as gold down to the point of valuelessness. Perhaps it even represents the degrading of the individual into that of the faceless masses, turning us into nothing but numbers instead of people.
The lines; "i'm riding on a fence and happy with... I'm counting on indifference, but if i had to choose, well it all looks pretty good to me" always reminds me of how today we really don't have to choose anything for ourselves. We're bombarded with ads selling us everything we could ever want, governments and other leadership make decisions affecting our lives daily without our input, and yet "it all looks pretty good" to us. If we had to "choose" anything, it's all so much the same that what we choose really seems to not matter at all.
    I dunno.
