Hoyt Axton – Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog lyrics
Jeremiah was a bullfrog
He was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him drink his wine

And he always had some mighty fine wine.

Singin' joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Everybody sing it: Joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

If I were the King of the world
Tell you what I'd do
Throw away the cars and the bars and the wars
And make sweet love to you
Just make sweet love to you.

Singin' Joy to the world
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea.

Joy to you and me.

--- Instrumental ---

You know I love the ladies
Love to have their fun
I'm a high night flier and a rainbow rider
A straight-shootin' son of a gun.
Yeah, I'm a straight shootin' son of a gun.

Singin' joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Everybody sing it: Joy to the world, now
All the boys and girls, now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me.

Ah, yeah. It'll be all right...

Ok here's my take. It's what the disciples felt about Jesus after John 6 and the eat my flesh, drink my blood speech. They had to acknowledge we don't understand a single word He says. But He's still our Dude. And from now on, we'll drink His communion wine. (John 6:68)

The rest of the song has nothing to do with Jesus. But I can imagine Peter had a lot to confess.

And at the end of it all, Jesus gave everyone reason for Joy to the World.

And I just completely made all this up because I thought it was funny.
