Gracie Fields – Now Is The Hour lyrics
Now is the hour
For me to say goodbye
Soon I'll be sailing
Far across the sea
While I'm away
Oh please remember me
When I return
I'll find you waiting here
Now is the hour
For me to say goodbye
Soon I'll be sailing
Far across the sea
While I'm away
Oh please remember me
When I return
I'll find you waiting here
While I'm away
Oh please remember me
When I return
I'll find you waiting here...

In 1952 I was shipping home from Korea. Our troop ship was leaving from Sasebo Japan.
There was a lot of hooting and hollering when group of young Japanese girls came out and sang Now is the hour in Japanese and English. I think as one all those men realized that a great adventure in their lives had ended. There was dead silence as these young girls sang that song. I will never forget that moment.
