Be still, my soul,
The Lord is on your side.
Bear patiently, the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to your God, to order and provide.
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul,
Your best your heavenly friend,
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul,
Your God will undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake.
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul,
The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he lived below.

Be still, my soul,
Be still, my soul,
Be still.

This song speaks of how God is there, His desire is to reconcile us into close relationship with Himself, through the Lord, Jesus Christ, who is God made flesh, and dwelt among us on earth. The song speaks of how God will comfort us in our times of struggle or grief, and one day we'll go home to be with Him in Heaven. Be still my soul, do not fear, for thy God will neither leave the nor forsake thee. He will care for thee, and cares for those who are one's beloved.

He will, for those who believe in Him and put their trust in Jesus Christ, what He said, His promises to us, bring all things to a joyful end and blessed fellowship with him in Heaven, where He has laid up for the believer unfathomable riches, wonders, and best of all, Himself, the glorious one.

Grief, pain, suffering will be past. He will wipe away every tear from our eyes, renew our minds, give us new glorious bodies. Revelation 7:17 and 21:4

King David of Israel considered God to be so intimate a friend that He asked the Lord to keep his tears in a bottle, knowing how familiar his LORD was with every struggle, every tear he shed, every loss he suffered.

    Psalm 56:8

"You number and record my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle—are they not in Your book?"

I just lost my mother, and was moved to sing this accapella at her Memorial Service. Didn't realize until afterward everyone there (family and friends) had lost a loved one. 'Said I hoped it comforted them as it had me. Many came up afterward to thank me. It was difficult to sing because I was almost overcome by grief when I started singing. But to God be the glory. It's "all about Him."

Sang it to God and my beloved friends and family. David Archuleta was my model for singing the song. He's wonderful. (I love every version of this I've heard.)

Thank God for the lovely German woman who was moved by God to write this rich, moving, comforting Hymn speaking of all the promises of God, the love of God toward us. His love is unfailing, and I'll testify as long as I draw breath to His unfailing love and how he rescued me when my life was in absolute shambles. Praying for all of you who posted here and may read this.

May the Living God and Jesus Christ (the way, the truth and the life) who calmed the stormy seas, walked upon the waters, by whom, for whom, through whom all things was created, be your Lord, your friend, your guide, be made known unto you as the every faithful, devoted lover of your soul. (Hebrews Ch. 1)

To God be the glory, amen.

I'm struggling with an eating disorder. This song keeps me from sinking sometimes. Whenever i sing it to myself, i feel god's love for me and i feel like i can fight a little harder.
