Down in the park
Where the machmen meet
The machines are playing `kill-by-numbers
Down in the park with a friend called `five
I was in a car crash
Or was it the war?
Well, Ive never been quite the same
Little white lies like I was there
Come to zom-zoms, a place to eat
Like it was built in one day
You can watch the humans
Try to run [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/g/gary_numan/down_in_the_park.html ]
Oh, look, there's a rape machine
Id go outside if it looks the other way
You wouldn't believe
The things they do
Down in the park
Where the chant is death, death, death
Until the sun cries morning
Down in the park with friends of mine
We are not lovers
We are not romantics
We are here to serve you
A different face but the words never change
Revdrdark, wrong wrong wrong! The lyricsc printed are correct, its not marked men. G. N. Wrote a sci fi book (never released) when he was a teenager, where in a dark work, there were machmen, that were (evil? ) dark law-keeping robots. And its 5 not fire. You really really should do you research when writing on sites.
And the meaning of the song: read it: its one mans image of a dark picture of what a future could be like.
It's the machmen. Read the original lyrics and learn to understand his voice. He even has a song with the same name as the title. And people? Dtop posting his lyrics under the bands who have covered this song? The only credit they deserve is in covering it-they didn't write it.
These lyrics are all wrong and now they have become viral. It's "marked men, not machmen. " also, "i was in a car crash/it wasn't the war/but i've never been quite the same/little white lies like i was there (i.e. , in the war)
and down in the park with a friend called 'fire'. Now it seems everyone posting lyrics, whether it be to the numan, manson, or foo-fighter versions post this tripe. Good going, tosser.
What a horrific landscape of the future numan offers with this song, which was written over 30 years ago. Here we have an arena (the park) with androids killing humans or machines raping them (the rape machine) while the spectators lounge at zom zoms. This song was done way before "bladerunner" and its still fresh and vibrant as when it was first released. Kudos to randy numan
