I think it’s about a lady who has died. That’s why it’s the happiest day of her life, because she’s in heaven now, starting a new life, but he realizes she’s gone now, and it hurts to say it out loud. She’s making memories without him now, because she’s dead. He should be happy for her to be in heaven, but why are there tears in his eyes. He knows he should be happy, but he’s lost everything, and she doesn’t miss him, because she’s found a new beginning in heaven. He’s just wishing for one more day with her.

Ok, so from what I understand is that the lyrics is not about an ex boyfriend having a
pity party because he didn't tell his girl he loved her & she got tired of waiting around for him. Sounds like it though. However, after reading the lyrics again, and perhaps I'm wrong maybe it's about a father/daughter relationship and the dad is sad that he had to give his little girl away?
