My destiny called me
But I wound up right back here
Cause it doesnt't't' mean nothing
Nothing means nothing at all
I went chasing shadows till I thought I'd disappeared
But it doesn't mean nothing
Nothing means nothing at all
So if I throw up my hands
Would you say that nothing's wrong
It makes no difference man it's all just gonna fade
It doesn't matter anyway
I want to belong here
But I'm not sure here exists
Cause it doesn't mean nothing
Nothing means nothing at all
I have young ambitions full of vinegar and piss
But it doesn't mean nothing
Nothing means nothing at all
So if I throw up my hands
Would you say that nothing's wrong
It makes no difference man it's all just gonna fade
It doesn't matter anyway
Maybe I'll just find a place where everything's so clear
Maybe I'll just blow this all away
So if I throw up my hands
Turn my back and walk away
It makes no difference man it's all just gonna fade
It doesn't matter anyway
It doesn't matter anyway

Fuel just loved to imitate other bands. The song Nothing sounds like them trying to imitate Blink-182. He even sounded like Tom with his rasping. Brett had the voice for Punk songs, which makes up for Carl's rather cliched songwriting. If you heard Innocent Mary (the song where Carl does high vocals), it begins with a generic line "don't be afraid, I'm there for you ain't it obvious about it when I gave her heart AWAY from me, yeah yeah" (sorry I don't know the whole song) and it sounded like they took inspiration from Our Lady Peace for that song. It seemed to me that fuel never quite found a unique sound for their music. Down, Hemmorhage (in my Hands again), Shimmer, and Won't Back Down were the standout tracks. Songs like this are an example of forgettable unoriginality. Even for a once-big name band like fuel. I don't blame 'em, since the entire post-Grunge genre is full of cliches.
