The question asked in order to save to her life or take it.
The answer no avoided death and yes would make it.
Do you believe in God? Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull to the trigger
And my sister Cassie pulled it

They didn't love their life so much
As to shrink from death
Inspired in their footsteps
We will march ahead
Don't be shocked that people die
Be surprised you're still alive
!

All heads are bowed in silent reverence
The floor is wet with tears of sorrowful remembrance
The altar is filled with hearts of repentance
Perfect love kills all fear
Rejoice in this deliverance

They didn't love their life so much
As to shrink from death
Inspired in their footsteps
We will march ahead
Don't be shocked that people die
Be surprised you're still alive!

Cassie was killed in the columbine shooting in '99 (as was her sister rachel) the shooter asked cassie "do you believe in god? " by one of the shooters and when she answered "yes" they shot her. The song is talking about faith, she knew how much she loved and had faith in god so she said yes. When you've experienced the perfect love of god, you won't back down from anyone or anything.
