Seems that I have been held, in some dreaming state
A tourist in the waking world, never quite awake
No kiss, no gentle word could wake me from this slumber
Until I realised that it was you who held me under
Felt it in my fists, in my feet, in the hollows of my eyelids
Shaking through my skull, through my spine and down through my ribs
No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world
And I could hear the thunder and see the lightning crack
And all around the world was waking, I never could go back
'Cause all the walls of dreaming, they were torn wide open
It finally it seemed that the spell was broken [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/f/florence_and_the_machine/blinding.html ]
And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open
And all my bones began to shake, my eyes flew open
No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world
Snow White's stitching up the circuitboard
Someone's slipping through the hidden door
Snow White's stitching up your circuitboard
No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love, so in love
No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world
Snow White's stitching up the circuitboard
Someone's slipping through the hidden door
Snow White's stitching up your circuitboard
Someone's slipping through the hidden door
This song is about the moment of spiritual awakening one has when a woman leaves girlhood and enters womanhood. A celebration of the rites of passage into maturity of spirit and seeing the world with greater clarity. A lament for the loss of innocence and the pain of sensing the harshness of reality and the cruelty of people.

I think blinding is about losing a love that you can never get back

Think this song means that she was so in love and when it ended she realized that it was all a dream.

I think she was so deeply in love that she didn't realize how dangerous the relationship was.

I thought it was about the state someone gets into in an abusive relationship, where their mind gets so twisted around by their abuser that they are no longer perceiving reality correctly. I got this from the lines "until i realised that it was you who held me under" and "no more dreaming like a girl, so in love, so in love with the wrong one".
It also kind of reminds me of the his dark material series, in the book where lyra is kidnapped by her mom who keeps her in a coma state which lets lyra into the world of the dead where she can reunite with her friend.

Its "synapse slipping through the hidden door", not "someone's", and i am 100% positive of that. Lol just had to make that clear, because every website says someone's.
Anyways amazing song i feel like it could mean a thousand different things, and harp and violin sound so cool, it gives me the chills :d

I translate into dreaming of a world that is nonexistent, like a farytale (snow white's stitching up the circuit boards).

I like the analyze of the person who wrote on dec 6th. I think it could also mean that she was still obsessed of a guy that was no longer a part of her life or didn't care for her as much as she did for him, and the song describes her understanding that he doesn't worth it and her decision to move on.

For me, this song is about her doubting or even giving up her belief in love. Someone broke her heart, which in turn shattered the illusion of love and fairytales. The 'spell' is broken and she no longer dreams about prince charming like a young girl. I listen to this song when i'm feeling bitter about someone in my life who ruined the fantasy of love for me. Pretty much, she's done believing in the cliche love stories and happy endings. All i really know is that i love this song.
