Joke me something awful just like kisses on the necks of "best friends"
We're the kids who feel like dead ends
And I want to be known for my hits not just my misses.
I took a shot and didn't even come close
At trust and love and hope.
And the poets are just kids who didn't make it who never had it at all. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/f/fall_out_boy/ive_got_a_dark_alley_and_a_bad_idea_that_says_you_should_shut_your_mouth.html ]
And the record wont stop skipping And the lies just wont stop slipping
And besides my reputation's on the line
We can't fake it for the airwaves force our smiles, baby, half dead
From comparing myself to everyone else around me.
Please put the doctor on the phone 'cause I'm not making any sense.
Blame everyone but me for this mess
And my back has been breaking from this heavy heart
We never seemed so far.
I'm hopelessly hopeful, that you're just hopeless enough
But we never had it all...
And the record wont stop skipping And the lies just wont stop slipping
And besides my reputation's on the line
We can't fake it for the airwaves force our smiles, baby, half dead
From comparing myself to everyone else around me.
I honestly think this just means that when you try so hard to be something you're not and people find you out, you feel like there's nothing in the world that can make everything right. There's always something wrong even if you don't see it at first and nothing will keep every problem you have away for good so don't spend all your time trying to be like everyone else.
While i whole-heartedly agree with your assessment of this song, carebare313, i believe this may be a case where simpler might have been better. For instance, you could have just said, "this song is about my friend, darkmark19. "
Ever been in love with someone who was a good friend? Then realized that they would never think of you that way? And you keep telling them everything's fine when they ask you what's wrong? Well... Here's a song about that, after that person finds out and it's all awkward.
