Fall Out Boy – Immortals lyrics

[Verse 1]
They say we are what we are,
But we don't have to be
.
I'm bad behavior but I do it in the best way.
I'll be the watcher of the eternal flame,
I'll be the guard dog of all your fever dreams.

[Pre-Chorus]
I am the sand in the bottom half of the hourglass (glass, glass).
I'll try to picture me without you but I can't.

[Chorus]
Cause we could be immortals, immortals,
Just not for long, for long
.
Live with me forever now,
Pull the blackout curtains down,
Just not for long, for long.
We could be immor-immortals, immor-immortals,
Immor-immortals, immor-immortals
.
(Im-immortals)

[Verse 2]
Sometimes the only payoff for having any faith,
Is when it's tested again and again everyday
.
I'm still comparing your past to my future,
It might be your wound, but they're my sutures.

[Pre-Chorus]
I am the sand in the bottom half of the hourglass (glass, glass).
I'll try to picture me without you but I can't
.

[Chorus]
Cause we could be immortals, immortals,
Just not for long, for long
.
Live with me forever now,
Pull the blackout curtains down,
Just not for long, for long.
We could be immor-immortals, immor-immortals,
(Im-immortals)

[Bridge]
And live with me forever now,
Pull the blackout curtains down.

[Outro]
We could be immortals, immor-immortals
Just not for long, for long

We could be immor-immortals, immor-immortals,
Immor-immortals, immor-immortals.
(Im-immortals).

This song represents the feeling of regret the person has due to a relationship that ended before they were ready. Such a relationship could be romantic or just friendly. They know that their time together is running out, but think of their past as memories that will never die. In their memories they are immortal; together forever. The speaker is taking the relationship to heart, and maybe even obsessing over the missed chances and "what ifs". He/she thinks of themselves as the time wasted in their relationship and blames him/herself for its collapse. It's not what they wanted, but it's too far to go back now. The speaker (I'm just going to use Pete's name from now on because these are his lyrics) still feels a sense of possessiveness towards his friend/significant other and likes to imagine that things are like they were in the past, even though it's totally different. He knows he can't trust himself to act like it's over, but accepts it and plans on dealing with it as if it is collateral damage. He just hides in his head, replaying the memories over and over because he knows that it's as close as he's going to get to the real thing. He wants to change it, but doesn't know how.

Immortals is a song by the Fall Out Boy for the movie Big Hero 6. The song means that we don't have to be what the others wants us to be and not to give up when you have hard times. Hiro (the main character) loses his older brother Tadashi. Ans Tadashi told Hiro that we should never ever give up on something. It also means that one day we all could be heroes. This movie and the song is epic. The movies so hilarious!!

The lyrics are from Hiro. He thanks his brother for showing him that being the best at being in trouble was not all that he had to be. Hiro is telling his brother that he will keep his memory and dreams alive. Although Hiro feels his faith is tested by his pain, he knows his brother's time has run out and he is what's left. ("I am the sand in the bottom half of the hourglass.") The first time the phrase ("Pull the blackout curtains down") is used, Hiro references his own morning. By the end of the song, Hiro hopes he will have lived out Tadashi's legacy. Tadashi and Big Hero 6 (the group of heros) will be immortal in the memories of others as they leave the "forever" Hiro lives now for Tadashi, ("if we leave forever now") those left behind "pull the blackout curtains down" to morn them.

The song is from Big Hero 6, and it applies directly to the characters and situations in the movie; most of the song could have been said by Hiro or Tadashi to each other at some point. Examples:
The first half of the first verse could be Tadashi encouraging Hiro to give up bot fighting and go to "nerd school".
The second half of the first verse could be either Tadashi's "I'm not giving up on you" or Hiro committing to preserve Tadashi's memory.
The first half of the second verse could again be Tadashi not giving up and encouraging Hiro to do the same.
The second half sounds like Hiro wondering how he'll ever measure up to Tadashi's intelligence and passion for helping people, and even though Tadashi was the one who died, Hiro is the one who has to live with the pain.
The line about the hourglass could be that Tadashi's life is over, or that Hiro feels his life is over when Tadashi dies. The following line and the desire to be immortal could be the brothers just wishing they could always be together, or the fact that they feel alive and invincible when they're together, though truly they know that no one lives forever ("Just not for long").

This is a song from the movie "Big hero 6". In the movie, the main characters older brother dies. The younger brother is mourning and this song is a representation of what the older brother wants to say to his younger bro. He wants to say not everyone is immortal and that everyone has their own time. He is also saying to his brother that he should stop mourning and move on because life will just go on as it is. The older brother is saying that its hard for him too to be away from his brother but with faith, he knows they will make it through. In short, he is saying that his younger brother should just cherish his memories of him and go on with the future because, no matter what, he will never give up on his younger bro. This is a song for all those who have experienced losses and hardships. They should always have faith and everything will be better.
