Playground school bell rings again.
Rain clouds come to play again.
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I'm your mind giving you
Someone to talk to.
Hello. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/e/evanescence/hello.html ]
If I smile, and don't believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream
Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken.
Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide.
Don't cry.
Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here.
All that's left of yesterday.
Here is what i think (by the way i have terrible spelling):
I think that this song is about a girl who is still in school or elemenatry school and she has no friends the reason why she likes playing in the rain. The line "she's not breathing" can mean so many things. It can be literal or metaphorically. I think it is meant metaphorically and that she has schizophrenia, that's why the line "hello, i'm your mind giving you someone to talk to" comes into place. It goes to her basically saying, don't belive me if i smile cause it's a lie and that she is going to wake up from this "dream" she is having. The line "don't try to fix me, i'm not
broken" could mean that she doesn't want any medications to "fix" her and that she wants to "fix" it herself. Then it goes into the voice talking to her and telling her to be quite so she can live
for her, but don't cry about it. Out of no where she figures out it really is her life and she really isn't sleeping, that she is still here with all that was left in the past. That is a big read in to it and taking a psych class kinda helps. Haha
It also could mean that:
A girl had no friends and she finally gets sick of playing alone so she develops a "new" her. Everyone liking that "new" her means she got lots of friends, if not some. Then she realizes that the lies aren't helping and her "friends" really aren't her friends, they just like her for who she is pretending to be, but she can't stop the lie and she can't cry. Finally she realizes that she can
get rid of the lies and be herself finally getting friends that like her for her, and she is still like she was in the past, just with friends.
There can be lots of meanings. I hope to be able to read what others thing it means also.

Hello is a song about amy's late sister who died at the age of 2 or 3.
She never performs this song live because she said she will break down and cry.

This song is... Amazing but also so sad. You can feel and hear the sadness when she sings this song. The first time i heard it i cried tt^tt
Like horseluvr14 i heard it is about her little sister. But the other meaning could be that this child is all alone, she has no one but her imagination giving her a little bit of hope
Amy lee has such a great voice. You can hear her grief in the lyrics, in her voice and it gives the song power. It' a song that moves everyone really. Her sister died at age 3 from an (unknown? ) illness when amy lee was six, i think. That's where the line 'has no one told you she's not breathing? ' comes in. From the lyrics, it seems that she forces herself to believe that it's all a dream but something then makes her realise that it's real but her sister is there, always, reminding her of yesterday. At least, that's my opinion.
I wish they would've had this song on the glee "hell-o" episode last season. It would've added a sense of darkness and mystery to the show, something that they might need every once and a while... I love this song. It's dark and mysterious and full of depth... There's no way to describe it other than- marvelous!
Okay just a note these lyrics aren't complete... And i love this song, it's one of my favorites... Along with everybody's fool, taking over me, and my last breath... )): it's a really sad song.
I think this song is about her little sister who died when she was young. I've listened to it so many times and it still makes me want to cry. It's so sad, but it's just so... This is gonna sound cheesy, but i have no other way to say it, it's amazing.
