There's a place that I've found
As far as I can see
This place lies within
The depths of my dreams
In a garden surrounded
By fire and trees
Through the smoke a silhouette I can barely see
There's a man with an axe
Standing in the rain

Looked me straight in the eye
This is what he had to say

Never fall asleep
You won't wake up
Destroy the guillotine
Before he does

I walk with shadows
(You have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(The questions I will never say)
Hiding from the gallows
(They keep me safe and sound)
So I walk with shadows
(The ways of burning down this house)

End transmission
The satellites are down
I need an earthquake
To shake this pity
OFF THE GROUND

Just don't trust these liars at the door
(You have to find a better way)
Kill the ones that have these answers for
(The questions I will never say)

Never fall asleep
You won't wake up
Destroy the guillotine
Before he does

I walk with shadows
(You have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(The questions I will never say)
Hiding from the gallows
(They keep me safe and sound)
So I walk with shadows
(The ways of burning down this house)

End transmission
The satellites are down
I need an earthquake
To shake this pity
Off the ground

All the vibrant colors I see
And the shades that fill the grey

Pain
The pain
Pain
The pain
Pain
The pain
Pain
The pain
Pain

[X2]

Hiding from the gallows
(You have to find a better way)
I walk with shadows
(The questions I will never say)
Hiding from the gallows
(They keep me safe and sound)
So I walk with shadows
(The ways of burning down this house)

"He" being Ronnie Radke, frontman of Escape the Fate.
    Well actually former frontman.
But he is still "He", nonetheless.

    Meaning of song:
    He's dreaming.
In this dream, it is raining (symbolizes sadness), and there's a man with an axe (symbolizes justice).
The man is a mere figment of imagination or a demon from his nightmares.
But ironically, this man is not meaning to hurt him, but to help him.
And as well, the man is asking for his help.
He tells him not to trust the ones without proof of what they have to bear.
    Find something out for yourself.
Don't just trust others that tell you something.
You can NEVER completely trust anyone.
    And be honest, yourself.
In return, you will find you can take on any evil that comes your way.

Most people would assume "Escape the Fate" is a "satanic" or "emo" band because they wear black, eyeliner, have tattoos, and they scream in their music.
They are neither satanic nor emo..
They're just any ordinary band of musicians trying to make the world a better place.
Yes, I am an ETF fanatic.
I also wear eyeliner, black, I scream in my music, and I plan on getting covered in tattoos.
I worship God, and I'm gonna stay that way.
    Got a problem with that?
    Well.
    If you do.
    I hate you, too.
    (:

yea Trevor, I agree with you, escape the fate is a great band, but people always misjudge every band because of their music, screaming or how they dress. it's really ignorant at times and it annoys me but well at least there's people out there who know not to judge bands by their music, you have to judge them by there lyrics and that's what most people don't understand

The first verse is my favortie because in my interpertation it means we create meanings and things in our mind that can destroy us. Basically we all over think our next move in life causing self destruction.!!

escape the fate really is awesome. i would love to wae thick eyeliner like all you guys seem to bring up except my mom won't let me ( i know how lame that sounds) and some people if they didn't know me may think i'm some sort of a prep but i really really am not. i am "emo" although i hate that term because it's used in such a negative way usually. escape the fate is an amazing band. alot of people misjudge it because their sound sound suicidal if you can't understand the hidden meanings in it. trevor did a really good job in understanding it all. amazing :)

Wow, Trevor, I completely agree with you. I wear black, I wear eyeliner (although it's certainly different, being a girl; I still wear thick black eyeliner that people would assume to be "emo"), I have three tattoos chosen that I plan to start getting when I turn 16 (one in memory of my late grandmother, one the Cancer zodiac sign, and one being an Escape The Fate lyric), and I worship God.
I'd also like to add that Escape The Fate was so much better with Ronnie, not because his voice was better or because I like him more (Craig is an excellent singer/screamer & I have nothing against him), but because Ronnie's lyrics were much more meaningful than Craig's are. It really bothers me, because Escape The Fate - whose music has affected me greatly - will never be the same with Craig. :(
    Anywho, amazing song.

    Love, Sara
