(by eric clapton and jim gordon)

Whatll you do when you get lonely
No one waiting by your side?
Youve been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.

Layla, youve got me on my knees.
Layla, Im begging, darling please.
Layla, darling wont you ease my worried mind.

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.

Chorus

Lets make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say well never find a way
And tell me all my loves in vain.

Chorus

Chorus

apparently its about layla from the story of layla and majnun in persian literature- they are two lovers, but layla is forced to marry another man and later dies. Majnun then goes crazy and becomes a madman.

For god's sake, its about patti boyd. George harrison wrote three songs about her, eric clapton two more, and mick jagger tried unsuccessfully for 10 years to seduce her. Its all in the history books...

This song is about Pattie Boyd!! He fell in love with her while she was married to George Harrison. Read "wonderful tonight" her autobiography.
