Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everybody has a private world
Where they can be alone

Are you calling me, are you trying to get through
Are you reaching out for me, I'm reaching out for you

I'm just so fuckin' depressed
I just can seem to get out this slump

If I could just get over this hump
But I need something to pull me out this dump
I took my bruises, took my lumps
Fell down and I got right back up
But I need that spark to get psyched back up
In order for me to pick that mic back up
I don't know how or, why or when,
I ended up in this position I'm in
I starting to feel distant again
So I decided just to pick this pen
Up and tried to make an attempt to vent
But I just can't admit
Or come to grips, with the fact that
I may be done with rap
I need a new outlet
I know some shits so hard to swallow
And I just can't sit back and wallow
In my own sorrow
But I know one fact
I'll be one tough act to follow
One tough act to follow
I'll be one tough act to follow
Here today, gone tomorrow
But you have to walk a thousand miles

Chorus
In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
I'll be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what It'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others mind
Just to see what we find
Look at shit through each others eyes

But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you

I think I'm starting to lose my sense of humor
Everything is so tense and gloom
I almost feel like I gotta check the temperature in the room
Just as soon as I walk in
It's like all eyes on me
So I try to avoid any eye contact
Cause if I do that then it opens a door to conversation
Like I want that...
I'm not looking for extra attention
I just want to be just like you
Blend in with the rest of the room
Maybe just point me to the closest restroom
I don't need no fucking man servant
Tryna follow me around, and wipe my ass
Laugh at every single joke I crack
And half of them ain't even funny like
Haa! Marshall, you're so funny man, you should be a comedian, god damn
Unfortunately I am, I just hide behind the tears of a clown
So why don't you all sit down
Listen to the tale I'm about to tell
Hell, we don't have to trade our shoes
And you don't have to walk no thousand miles

Chorus
In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
All be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what It'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others mind
Just to see what we find
Look at shit through each others eyes

But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you so
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you

Nobody asked for life to deal us
With these bullshit hands we're dealt
We gotta take these cards ourselves
And flip them, don't expect no help
Now I could have either just
Sat on my ass and pissed and moaned
But take this situation in which I'm placed in
And get up and get my own
I was never the type of kid
To wait by the door and pack his bags
Or sat on the porch and hoped and pray
For a dad to show up who never did
I just wanted to fit in
In every single place
Every school I went
I dreamed of being that cool kid
Even if it meant acting stupid
Aunt Edna always told me
Keep making that face it'll stuck like that
Meanwhile I'm just standing there
Holding my tongue trying to talk like this
Till I stuck my tongue on that frozen stop sign poll at 8 years old
I learned my lesson then cause I wasn't tryin to impress my friends no more
But I already told you my whole life story
Not just based on my description
Cause where you see it from where you're sitting
Is probably 110% different
I guess we would have to walk a mile
In each others shoes, at least
What size you where?
I wear tens
Let's see if you can fit your feet

Chorus
In my shoes, just to see
What it's like, to be me
All be you, let's trade shoes
Just to see what It'd be like to
Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others mind
Just to see what we find
Look at shit through each others eyes

But don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you so
Don't let 'em say you ain't beautiful
They can all get fucked. Just stay true to you

Lately I've been hard to reach
I've been too long on my own
Everybody has a private world
Where they can be alone...
Are you calling me, are you trying to get through
Are you reaching out for me, I'm reaching out for you

Yea... To my babies. Stay strong. Dad will be home soon
And to the rest of the world, god gave you the shoes
That fit you, so put em on and wear em
And be yourself man, be proud of who you are
Even if it sounds corny,
Don't ever let no one tell you, you ain't beautiful

I love this song by eminem he is reall for real in all his music he tells what his life was lyke growin up and how hard it is now things happen and he knwe just how to deal with them and who knew eminem would write this song. It is pretty amazing what people do to show change in there life. But I know eminem is tha most greatest rappers in the world compare to others cause he talks about real life things and now all guns and hoes and drugs and haven s** 24/7 so that's why even my own gradmother listens to him lol hahahaha lololololo. But yea he is awesome.

This song describes the psychological burnout Eminem faced and still faces after becoming famous. He devoted (sold his "soul") himself to Hollywood years ago and entered the celebrity web. Being one of the best (probably the best according to fans) he drew way too much attention to himself. Now he misses the times he used to hate. Being just a nobody. A person you would look at for no more than 2 seconds. Today wherever he goes, every person in the room is around him asking questions and "wiping his ass". Receiving too much attention is equally as bad as receiving none. In some cases, even more. He wants to be alone and treated just like everybody else. This song is probably his way of saying to his fans to leave him be if they see him on the street. You have to understand that all artists in the Hollywood Music Industry are constantly under pressure by the producers and becoming independent there requires many years of hard work. (listen to SOAD-Lost in Hollywood, you'll understand everything). Now, this constant pressure accompanied by that kind of attention he gets makes him feel alone once again. Back where he started. Not being able to find someone to really understand him. Like reaching the top was just water under the bridge.

This song helped me with my depression. I had to feel the pain of the music to hear the reason he wrote it first and it was difficult to relive but then he showed me that no matter how hard life throws a curveball at you, you have to know how to make it through it all. His pain is shown in reality and he used this song as a release to get through it all. His music that is like this has made me understand that I am not the only one. It means that he was at an all time low and his music was his only way to get to the people that his life isn't perfect. He needed help when nobody was there for him. With what eminem does with his music, I support him all the was and definitely thank him for his message. I love what you do marshall so keep it going bro.

This song has an awesome meaning, or atleast to me it does. It says to never give up, no matter what the hell people say bout you. When he talks about takin a walk in his shoes he says take a look at what I mean, and just remember to stay you. He's puttin a lot of meaning into this song, more than just one, but that's what sticks out most to me. Judge the song how you will.

Man, I think this will be as big as 'we made you'. I like this song better than 'we made you' only cuase' it shows how deprest he gets and really what this world is to him. It has so much meaning this song. I feel sorry for him. Only cuase' he has been thourgh alot, kinda like my life in a way. I mean sometimes I feel like my sense of houmer can't even cover up my pain. I love this song I give it 5 stars,%110 and a extra listin.
