Emerson, Lake & Palmer – The Sage lyrics

I carry the dust of a journey
That cannot be shaken away
It lives deep within me
For I breathe it every day

You and I are yesterdays answers
The earth of the past come to flesh
Eroded by times rivers
To the shapes we now possess.

Come share of my breath and my substance
And mingle our streams and our times
In bright infinite moments
Our reasons are lost in our eyes.

The sage to me is about going on a mental journey. Remembering a love that had gone wrong. No matter how tough it is to think about it, it lingers in the mind, haunting the one who has gone through the ill fated love.
Thinking to his own mind he trys to reassure that he and his former lover are of the past however the memory has scared him for life, time had past and this moment becomes one with thier beings.
In the end, the lover tells his love to be a part of him wanting thier lives to be as one but realises that with the many good times they shared, their true feelings were never said, but only shown in the emotion found in thier own eyes.
