I've been outside
Invited in
But I couldn't abide
I wouldn't miss it again
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost

I had true love
I made it die
I pushed her away
She said please stay
Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
To find some beautiful place to get lost

I don't know where I'll go now
And I don't really care who follows me there
But I'll burn every bridge that I cross
And find some beautiful place to get lost
And find some beautiful place to get lost

First off, let's correct a lyric?it's not " i wouldn't miss it again," it's "i went missing again. " the other line does not make sense in the context of the song. The song is about his choices, and the last verse shows he fully intends to keep burning bridges, and he doesn't care who goes along for the ride. The lyrics reflect to his inability to stay in the relationships in his life, in part by conscious choice. Many if his friends he pushed away when the soughtto help smith with his worsening drug use. Drug references are littered throughout smith's songs, from even before he started using, but on from a basement... They are everywhere and clear cut. In let's get lost, getting lost is a euphemism for getting high, i believe, especially in the context of the rest of the album lyrics, and this song is about choosing drugs over everything else in the heart of addiction.
