Edwin Mccain – I'll Be lyrics

The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
And emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth

And tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

And I'll be your cryin' shoulder
I'll be love suicide
And I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

And rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
And you're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive, and not dead

And tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

And I'll be your cryin' shoulder
I'll be love suicide
And I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life.

And I dropped out, I burned up, I fought my way back from the dead,
I tuned in, I turned on, remembered the thing that you said.

And I'll be your cryin' shoulder
I'll be love suicide
And I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

And I'll be your cryin' shoulder
I'll be love suicide
And I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

The greatest fan of your life.

This song has a beautiful story to tell. The depth is obvious and this song might bring me love. I want to ask this girl out, but I'm scared of what will happen to our relationship. We are really close, and she tells me all about her problems. She knows I like her, but she didn't tell me to stop trying or anything like that, which is good. And she doesn't know it, but every word in this song reflects what I feel for her and would do for her even if she rejects me. In other words, I would be her crying shoulder, I would be love suicide, I would be better when I'm older, I would be the greatest fan of her life. I would drop out, burn up, and fight my way back from the dead just for her. And I just hope she knows that when I ask her out.

At a concert of his, Edwin told of how he was at a bar after a show one night. He overheard this guy trying to pick up on a girl and he kept dropping ridiculous one-liners. The lady was telling the guy about all her problems. And he finally says "Well baby, I'll be your crying shoulder".
After Edwin heard this he just said "Bartender, can you give me a pen and paper please!". And now you've got "I'll Be".
