I am a poor, wayfaring Stranger
Traveling through this world alone
There's no sickness, toil or danger
In that bright land, to which I go
I'm going there to see my mother
I'm going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home now

(Hey-ey-ey yeah...)

And I know dark clouds, will gather me
And I know my way, is rough and steep
And the beautiful fields lie just beyond me

And I know my way, is rough and steep
I'm going there to see my mother
And I'm going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home now

Cause I am a poor, wayfaring Stranger
Traveling through this world alone
There's no sickness, toil or danger
In that bright land, to which I go
I'm going there to see my mother
And I'm going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home now

What this song means to me is that he was thinking about giving up his to see his mother and see what life what from where she is and that the fact he may seem like a stranger to others he will still remember his mother and in the hook where he says I'm going there to see my mother and I'm going there no more to roam meaning that he going to heaven to see his mother and that, at that place he yet should not roam. This song is so awesome and it means alot and if you actually understand these lyrics you will feel the same way I do and will soon gather the information that I have received from this song. I have just made a great medley of most of Ed Sheeran songs and included this song it sounded so amazing and soon me and cousin will be discovered for the wonderful song we created out of mixes. So basically this song means that he is deciding to take another route in life to go and see his mom and that where he yet lay in peace he shall not roam.
