Start out as something beautiful
Hold out for something unreal
But don't hold your breath
Because I'm all that's left

(So that I've gone?)
So you walk away

Well I was once willing to admit you're perfect
And now, the words they stutter on my lips
Well I was once willing to admit, you were perfect
Perfect

And all my dreams
Call out on my knees
Hold out, I'm all in
I can't (bet?), I can't win
Save me from falling in

Hey, and now let's all pretend you really wanna go down
Hey now, let's all pretend
Save it all, pretend you didn't wanna go down
Hey now, let's all pretend

Well I was once willing to admit you're perfect
And now, the words they stutter on my lips
Well I was once willing to admit, you were perfect
Perfect

Of coarse every relationship is "perfect" in the beginning, but i believe the song is talking about the aftermath of a relationship. She was once the best thing that could happen to him, but she messed around and took him for granted. Thus "i was once willing to admit you were perfect"
