I read a note my grandma wrote back in 1923

I read those words just hours before my grandma passed away
In the doorway of a church
Where me and grandpa stopped to pray
I know I'd never seen him cry in all my 15 years
But as he said these words to her
His eyes filled up with tears

This song was performed at my father's funeral. He passed away August 14, 2008, at the age of 88 years just a few months after he and my mother celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. The really sad thing about it was that my mother was suffering from Alzheimers and wasn't told that he had died. They had spent so much time together, but she wasn't able to experience closure.
