As hope and promise fade
And the sun forgets to rise
Well, I'm lonely and I'm thirsty
But it's better I stay dry

I'm never more than two drinks away from crying

I stare into the glass
Wait for the time to pass
And I thank you for the offer
But you know I must decline

I'm never more than two drinks away from crying

There used to be a time when I could hold my head up high
My life laid out before me
Rivers flow with wine
I had my love beside me
And everything was fine
Now the ride is over
Time to say goodbye

As hope and promise fade
Midnight turns to day
Well, I'd love to drown my sorrow
But I can not tell a lie

I'm never more than two drinks away from crying

From crying

From crying

No secret that chris has had his problem with alcohol. So i think its a dual meaning. Heart break and he knows he shouldnt kill the pain with alcohol.
