I think its about someone who is suffering or traumatized and as the effects wear them down, the personality and essence of the person fades away, leaving an unhealthy, empty shell. Their loved one can only stay by their side and watch, remaining in love with them but knowing they can't return the affection because they are dead inside. At the end of the song, I think the one who was suffering ended their life, and their loved one followed after. "

This song is about the pain of knowing someone is hurting, but you can't do anything about it. Hence "i keep holding on to you, but i cant bring you back to life. " they're just sinking farther and farther away. "anthem of the angles" refers to praying to god and his angels and saying "i'm hurt. Nobody on earth can do anything. I need you to save me. " this is only how I take the song (seeing as I call out to god to save me from my depression quite often) but depending on which end of the bridge you're on, you may want to recommend this song to a friend.

I think this song is about somebody slowly losing their life to a battle with either a disease like cancer or something or perhaps even losing themselves to addiction and dying but I think it's definitely about somebody kind of slowly losing their life and these people wanting to save them but they can't. Of course anything is open to interpretation but that's what I got out of it.
