I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now
You're gonna wanna hold me
Just like I've always told you
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Nobody here will ever find me
But I will always be around
Just like the songs I leave behind me
I'm gonna live forever now

You fathers and you mothers
Be good to one another
Please try to raise your children right
Don't let the darkness take 'em
Don't make 'em feel forsaken
Just lead 'em safely to the light

When this old world is blown us under
And all the stars fall from the sky
Remember someone really loves you
We'll live forever you and I

I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now

I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now

I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now

I'm gonna live forever
I'm gonna cross that river
I'm gonna catch tomorrow now

I'm gonna live forever now
I'm gonna live forever now
I'm gonna live forever now
I'm gonna live forever now

Dream of angels and sunshine
rivers of red wine and orange peel blue
Dream of angels and sunshine
of rivers of red wine and orange peel blue
dreaming of you

This one is for my Cousin Jason, who left us way too soon!
    You fathers and you mothers.
    Be good to one another.
Please try to raise your children right.
Don't let the darkness take 'em.
    Don't make 'em feel forsaken.
Just lead 'em safely to the light.

The song was written by billy joe shaver and eddy shaver... Not by noel gallagher who you identify as the songwriter.

I heard this yesterday at a farmer's market in Woodstock, IL. Beautiful sunny day, sitting on a bench eating a marvelous sandwich from a vegetarian restaurant (Moroccan seasonings and so good!), listening to a fantastic folk/country singer, smiling, happy as a lark, and said to the stranger next to me, "It doesn't get much better than this, does it." A few songs later this song was played, and the floodgates opened.

I never heard this song until joe ely recorded it. It makes me think of my father and sounds like it could be his words. He died on 2010 and was the patriarch of our large family always reaching out to the younger generation and giving advice to parents. His last words were to ask for assistance for a great-great granddaughter after not speaking coherently for three days. Then, when a granddaughter flew with his ashes so he could be buried next to his wife, his ashes were stolen along with a coach bag tucked from view because we were entering a restaurant and hesitant to violate possible heath codes.
Almost every word fits his personality and attempts to comfort those left behind.

This is a song we played at my mom's funeral services over 10 years ago. People still remember this song and and if there was a dry eye during the service there after this song played. I still listen to it everyday.
