The eastern world, it is exploding
Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’
You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’
You don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun you’re totin’
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin’

But you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction.

Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say
Can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away
There’ll be no one to save, with the world in a grave
[Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy]

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction.

Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’
I’m sitting here just contemplatin’
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation
And marches alone can’t bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin’
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for 4 days in space
But when you return, it’s the same old place
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace
And… tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend
You don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction
Mm, no no, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction.

American citizens experienced a rash of contradicitons in the 1960s. I recall the love (let us vote) movement. One could not vote, but one could die "for the country" peace or for lack of a better word, the absence of hate will require more than laws and marches. We must see the war that is occurring in our own front yard and not be distracted by a war out of our reach(vietnam).

A couple of years ago I bought some surplus junk. It was wrapped in newspaper. When I got it home I looked at the paper, from the early 1950's. Sad to say, the papers contained articles were about the problems in the middle east. When will it stop? When will our politicians on all sides stop their personal power games for re-election and solve the problems? What did the postman say? It's not the parties anymore. Let's stop playing into the politicians games. You and me we're all the same, let's live our lives and not be manipulated by the clowns in office.

The hatred around the world. The tension in the middle east. Our poor economy. I am sitting here waiting for a revorution that I wish would come, to take down the corporate elite that has destroyed the middle class. The people that built this country into the greatness that it once was. I am 56 years old, on social security disability, and I pray everyday for a revolution. I want to take my country back from the politicians, lobbyists, corporations and every other fat cat that has their hand out. I want this to be the land of the people, the ones who voted for those who are to represent us. Us the tax payers. Not us the corporations who go overseas and avoid taxes and hiring americans. I can go on for hours, but I think you get the idea!
