Bad Company – Silver, Blue And Gold lyrics
In the beginning, I believed every word that you said
Now that you're gone my world is in shreds
Oh you loved me and left me
You took all the things that I needed so bad
I'm standing here wondering where is the love that I had oh

CHORUS:
Give me silver, blue and gold
The color of the sky I'm told
My rainbow is overdue

In the beginning, there was something of love that was mine
Now that it's gone, whoa I'm crying
Oh the time that it takes for a love to grow cold
is a wonder to me
I'm walking around with my head hanging down
tell me where is she

CHORUS
Don't forsake me cause I love you
Don't forsake me cause I love you

CHORUS
CHORUS
Now CHORUS

Oh Don't forsake me cause I love you
Don't forsake me cause I love you

The most simultaneously sad and inspirational song I know. I puzzled about the meaning of the title until it came to me that the main point of the song - revealed mostly in the chorus and the mood - is a call to hold your head up and expect that life has new surprises and joys to discover even when your soul has been devastated by loss. As a tribute to the ones we have loved and lost we must hold on to the love we still have for them which, if true, never dies. The sadness can drive us to misery and live life with our "head hangin' down" but if we spend too much time that way the love that we had can grow cold and we have forsaken the reason for love itself - to look skyward and know that the ones who loved us want us to remember the beauty of that love that will never die. Not forsaking that love will allow us to see the beauty that surrounds us each day in such simple things as in the colors of the sky and having faith and actively looking for that inspiration is essential for it to return even when we have fallen into a pit of despair from which we feel we will never escape.

“Give me silver, blue and gold

Silver blue and gold is the color of the sky without his rainbow, which is overdue. His love is his rainbow and she’s gone. If love is true and real it will never fade, even if you can’t be together physically. You’re together in the spirit.

A powerful song. My advice is to not take the entire body of lyrics seriously - just listen to say every other line or so. "In the beginning"; a new life. A new relationship, a baby kitten, first day on a new job. "Now that you're gone, my word is in shreds": I miss you. Maybe you're dead. Maybe I got fired. Maybe you or I found someone else. But you still mean something to me. "I'm wandering around with my head hanging down tell me where is she(it)" It didn't work out, but you affected me big time. "Don't forsake me cause I love you". This is the biggee. Don't pay a lot of attention to the direct translation; it will mess you up. Focus on the emotion. You were in love with something and it's no longer here. You're sad because it's gone. Nobody really knows who God is or who's in charge, or why things happen. They just do. You loved that kitten because he was so cute. This was playing during your first kiss. This was the theme to your winning sports team. And now it's gone and that sucks! This song is a great example of how music moves us. Maybe they didn't want to leave, but they had to. It wasn't your fault. But that doesn't make what you had any less special.
