I wish I had a mango tree
In my backyard
With you standin next to me
Take the picture
From her lips I heard her say
Can I have you
Caught up in what to say
I said you do
I said you do
I said you do [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/angus_and_julia_stone/mango_tree.html ]
Through my eyes I can see
A shooting star
Weavn it's way across the sea
Somewhere from mars
Down the street we would run
To scratch our names in the park
Young and free in the sun
Wheels upon the tar
I said you do
I said you do
I said you do
I said you do

The song is about love, nothing more, nothing less.
Can i have you?
Caught up in what to say , i said "you do. "
She asks for his heart, and he replies by saying that she already has it. They are expressing a mutual feeling of being in love, and the sense of euphoria that comes with it. The song is not about finding some sort of hidden and deep meaning, but instead sweetly and simply proclaims the new found love between two individuals. That in itself makes this song absolutely beautiful.

To me, its describing the story of a man being materialistic, not worried about anything else and is caught off guard by "her" wanting an emotional attachment/commitment... Something you cant see or touch. Confused and surprised he doesnt object. After time passes he realises theres more to life then owning things like the beauty and experiences life has to offer

Mango tree conceptualizes the simplicity of life. All we want is a mano tree in our backyard to take a picture with our family. Life is meaningless and simple.

Sometimes my dome wraps around the entre conceptual core of the capitalistic confidants. The pagers patterson was pursed hotly by a pussy poppin paparazzi. The negatively nuanced nymphomaniac was maliciously massaged by a chauvinistic character. The unaltered potatoes produced poignant positivism for his manlgnant malaligned
