Simple sweet guitar
Humbled by the bass
So when the beat kicks in
Everything falls into place
And it over powers me
I can't help but dance
You can try to stop me now
Boy you won't get tha chance
Half time, time to think it through
Consider the change
See it from a different view
Half time, time to think it through
Consider the change
Rhythm floods my heart
The melody it feeds my soul
The tune tears me apart
And it swallows me whole [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/amy_winehouse/halftime.html ]
You should thank your lucky stars
'Cause the music is a gift
And it's stronger than all else
Provides me with up lift
Half time, time to think it through
Consider the change
See it from a different view
Half time, time to think it through
Consider the change
My lyrics revealin'
Some natural vibe
It's a kind a laid back feelin'
Oh just let it ride
And when Frank Sinatra sings
It's to much to take, yeah
So I sing the standard shit
It pacify's my ache
Half time, time to think it through
Consider the change
See it from a different view
Half time, time to think it through
Consider the change
Recorded in August 2002. Amy had talked to Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of the Roots about working together. Amy and Salaam worked on Half-time since the Frank sessions. The result is beautiful.

For me, the lyrics represented her unwavering passion for music - while the chorus takes a different "prospective" view. I don't think the lyrics & chorus were necessarily "meant" to sync together...
And one other quick note, amy had well-publicized "crush" on hip-hop contemporary legend, nasir "nas" jones. Amy has named a few titles of her songs to match nas's titles (as well as indirectly referencing him in "me & mr. Jones" ("back to black"), 'half time" falls into the same category in which i feel is another "wink" at "nas".
We have truly lost one of the few contemporaries that can sing a standard or contemporary song & sound natural in doing so... I miss her already.

Half time was amy's expresion of love to music. , her last good bye. I can say its one of her deepest singles wich expresses what amy really was... Music. Music is not only heard its also an undiscribible feeling that flows between your soul. Amy will forever be missed!
