Amanda Lopiccolo – Dark Enough lyrics
[Verse 1]

There is a girl
In the front of my class
Who I swear I've never seen
Do anything but laugh

She's tall and she's smart
Beautiful and strong
And when someone's down
She tries to fix what is wrong

[Chorus:]

How does someone so perfect,
Feel so insecure?
As to scar her skin with cuts and burns
And still want to hurt more...

How does someone so loving,
Learn to hate her own guts?
Drawing a picture on her arms with a blade
As if her mind isn't dark enough

[Verse 2]

There is a girl
In the front of my class
Who's eyes are glazed over
Like newly cut glass

The ghost of a smile
Hints at her face
And she laughs as they tell her
"Who's on First Base"

[Chorus:]

How does someone so perfect,
Feel so insecure?
As to scar her skin with cuts and burns
And still want to hurt more...

How does someone so loving,
Learn to hate her own guts?
Drawing a picture on her arms with a blade
As if her mind isn't dark enough

[Verse 3]

There is a girl
In the front of my class
Who's so sad that you find it rare
To see her smile or laugh

Her friends tells her jokes
Like that one with the guy
But all she does is close her eyes
And enter her mind

[Chorus:]

How does someone so perfect,
Feel so insecure?
As to scar her skin with cuts and burns
And still want to hurt more...

How does someone so loving,
Learn to hate her own guts?
Drawing a picture on her arms with a blade
As if her mind isn't dark enough

For her imperfections...

[Verse 4]

There was a girl
In the front of my class
Who yesterday took
The breath that was her last...

She wrote a few notes:
"I'm sorry I didn't say,
But my mind was messed up,
You couldn't save me anyway...

And to the girl in the back of the class,
Who feels the way I did
...

[Chorus:]
How does someone so perfect,
Feel so insecure?
As to scar her skin with cuts and burns
And still want to hurt more"

Well it is pretty easy to see what the meaning is but to who doesn't know here it is. It's kinda about even "perfect" people can be depressed. Even though she is "happy" she hides it well like most depressed people. Also not everything is what is looks like. Plus how if someone has a smile everyone thinks they are happy even though they aren't.

I stopped cutting but I don't feel pretty or confident I just feel like I could change and be different. I'm surprised I haven't slipped but I don't want to it would mean loosing him and I can't do that. I made a promise to him I wouldn't do it and I promised myself I wouldn't break it. So in ways this song represents me and I would be in that girls death bed with her if it wasn't for him. Know all I have to do is get my best friend to stop so she doesn't end up in that position cause a life without her would equal death she is the other half of me not him I love them both.

The song kinda describes some people like me. I've heard people call me beautiful and such, and I usually sit at the front of my classes, but recently, I've been really down and my eyes get glazed over a lot. For example, at school the other day, one of my friends saw that my eyes were glazed over and asked if I was okay, and I told her I was fine, even though I really wasn't. And yes, I do hate my own guts, am insecure, and usually look down between classes when I am walking in the halls. So, when I heard this song, and a similar one called "Her Last Words", I immediately thought of myself and what I would say to my friends if I killed myself.

This song represents me in so many ways. I made a mix tape for my mom yesterday so she could know the songs I was listening to before I actually cut beyond repair. I haven't gave it to her yet. Hopefully I never will but there is no such thing as hope.
