A trail of tears beyond redemption
Just a word and nothing more
No more
I must reveal I am falling
To the dark
I now am born
So if you hear this cry
Show me a sign
Give me meaning
Lead me to life
Let me know
Why all the lies I'm believing
Have led me so far
Far from home
Cutting anguish not forgotten
Eternal life will not be mine, tonight
But if I wake to find perdition
At least I know
The fault was mine
At least I know
The fault was mine [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/alter_bridge/show_me_a_sign.html ]
So if you hear this cry
Show me a sign
Give me meaning
Lead me to life
Let me know
Why all the lies I'm believing
Have led me so far
Far from home
And the fire inside is gone
And all that I once had is lost
To the darkness I am born
A trail of tears beyond redemption
Just a word and nothing more
I must reveal that I'm falling
To the dark I am born
Show me a sign
Give me meaning
Lead me to life
Let me know
Why all the lies I'm believing
Have led me so far
Far from home
Frets, people like you really annoy me. By all means, feel free to witness to people but at least approach things with an open mind.
This song is very dark and seems the person who wrote it is hopeless, but one of the band members who contributed to writing these lyrics is indeed a christian. I am as well, but i know how to keep an open mind about things and not to jump to conclusions.
Just because this song isn't off of casting crowns' new album, doesn't mean it condones evil. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with secular music, as long as it doesn't push atheist or satanic views upon people. And this doesn't.
By the way, you're flirting with breaking one of the ten commandments here. "thou shall not judge". By reading a few lyrics without understanding what the writer was going through at the time, and coming up with your conclusion... You are judging the writer and those who listen to the song.
I am astounded that you felt it necessary to leave a long religious preaching on a song lyric. I could rant about such for days, but doing so would be about as pointless as your comment, seeing how the writer of this song is never going to see this.
Without christ, there is no hope... God is holy[1]. Therefore if god is holy, he must judge and deal with sin. Unfortunately all of us are sinners by birth. Therefore we have a problem, because of our sin we are spiritually separated from god[2]. God is also love. He loves his creation and wants to have a relationship with them, he is also merciful. But there is still the sin problem. [3] so this is what god did. He sent his son who is also deity, to the earth in human form. His son lived a perfect, sinless life, and became a sacrifice for our sins. [4] someone had to pay a price, but god didn't want you to pay it. He died on the cross shedding his blood and god placed his anger and judgement on his son. [5] then three days later god raised jesus from the dead, to show that he accepted his son's sacrifice. [6] so now the decision lies with us. God has paved a way for us to have a friendship and relationship with him here on the earth and in heaven. He has dealt with the sin of all humans including you, and he now holds a free gift out to us all. [7] we can't receive this gift by going to church, promising to be a better person, giving money, saving the earth, or even being moral. We receive it by faith in jesus. Believing in him and his death and resurrection on our behalf. [8] we exercise this faith, through prayer, calling on jesus' name confessing that jesus is lord, and believing that god raised him from the grave. [9] if you do that, god declares you righteous and you are saved. Which means you will spend eternity or forever in heaven with him. [10] however there is a flip side to this. Since god is holy, sin must be judged and a price must be paid. If someone refuses this gift, then they face an eternity of separation from god in a place of fire and torment called hell, because sin must be paid for. [11] either you let god pay, or you pay yourself. Just a side note, your payment will never be enough, you'll never pay enough to get out of hell. Well, there it is, it's your decision now. But don't take my word for it, here are some scriptures that back up what i am saying. ?
[1] you shall be holy, for i am holy (1peter 1:16)
[2] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god (romans 3:23)
[3] the lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2peter 3:18)
[4] this is love: not that we loved god, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1john 4:10)
“for god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (john 3:16)
[5] in fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (hebrews 9:22)
"so christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. " (hebrews 9:28)
[6] and if christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. (1corinthians)
for we know that since christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. (romans 6:9)
[7] for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life in christ jesus our lord. (romans 6:23)
[8] for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of god–not by works, so that no one can boast. (ephesians 2:8-9)
[9] but what does it say? “the word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:that if you confess with your mouth, “jesus is lord,” and believe in your heart that god raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (romans 10:8-9)
for, “everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved. ” (romans 10:13)
[10] for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (romans 10:10)
[11]whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of god's one and only son. (john 3:18)
[12] if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (revelation 20:15)
