Well all the lights have faded
The encore's come and gone
And I can't take this no more
Well I can't keep pretending
I just can't play the part
I need the solace of her shore
I need the solace of her shore
Coeur d'Alene is calling out
And it won't be long
Coeur d'Alene I'm coming now
Where I still belong
I look into the mirror
I don't know who I am
The lives are torn apart [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/alter_bridge/coeur_dalene.html ]
I still long for the simple
I'm just a common man
And with this aching heart
Coeur d'Alene is calling out
And it won't be long
Coeur d'Alene I'm coming now
Where I still belong
Safe at last in your arms
I'm safe at last in your arms
Coeur d'Alene is calling out
Where the water's calm
Coeur d'Alene I'm coming now
And it won't be long
Safe at last in your arms
And it won't be long
(I'm coming now)
I'm safe at last
And it won't be long

Coeur d'alene is not as much a physical destination here as it is a mental state... You experience the transient shallow highs of life and the last encore fades. Still, you look into the mirror and are not fulfilled, but a common man with an aching heart seeking calm waters, seeking your coeur d'alene. Looking for the solace of its shores.

When you are pissed off of everything you always can go back to your place

A man is aching to go to his home away from home. He wants to be safe and can't wait to be home.
Coeur d'alene is a city and also a lake in idaho. Myles kennedy is from washington state so it's possibly based on personal thought/experience. He was born in spokane which is right near the idaho border and not far from coeur d'alene
